Important update to our S-Series axept® software
We're updating our S-Series terminals with new axept® software

We're rolling out a new mandatory update of our axept® software to our terminal estate, which must be completed by the end of October 2023.

To update your terminal:

  1. Complete a Check for Updates to ensure your terminal has downloaded the update. This may already have happened automatically.

  1. Please logout and then log back in, which will trigger the update. If nothing else happens at this point, the update has been completed automatically. You’re all set!

  1. Finally, when the update is completed, complete a final Check for Updates to confirm the installation.

The update will take about 10-15 minutes, and it’s recommended that you’re connected to Wi-Fi throughout to speed this up. You can view and download our How to Update Your Software Guide s below.

If you’d like to find out more about this update, or have any questions, we’ve created a some helpful FAQs below, too.

Software update FAQs
What is this update?

This update allows the terminal to download and apply its data-signing certificate automatically, as part of regular scheduled updates. THIS UPDATE IS MANDATORY!

What is a data signing certificate?

When we send data to a terminal, we digitally sign it so that the terminal knows that this data really came from us. These certificates need to be renewed every 3 years, and previous updates have needed a separate software update.

Who is affected?

All merchants using a PAX S300, S800, Q25, or S900, will be affected

What do I need to do?
  • You'll need to complete a software update on each terminal you have. To do this you'll need to manually Check for Updates and wait for a download to complete.
  • Before you complete the update, you should search for stored transactions (as shown in the User Guide), plus run an End of Day report if they usually do so.
  • You can view and download our How to Update Your Software Guide for Standalone (is not connected to an Electronic Point of Sale. Transactions are started on the terminal itself. Most terminals are Standalone) here. If your terminal is Integrated (a terminal where a separate Electronic Point of Sale starts the transaction via a different device), please refer to this guide here

When do I need to complete the update by?

We're asking that all merchants complete this download as soon as they're asked to. It's important that the update has been completed by the 1st November 2023.

I haven’t been asked to update yet. Can I still update?

Please complete Upload Stored Transactions and then Check for Updates as per the instructions here – here

What happens if I don't apply the update?

If you don't get the terminal updated, it may stop working and need to be swapped, which would incur a fee. Please get in touch with us here if you run into any problems with the update as soon as possible: Support
